These are some alarming stats... about 25% of covid deaths in the States, or more than 16,000 people, were long-term care residents and staff members.

Workers in 64(!) nursing homes in Illinois just this week are going to go on strike "unless their employers provide hazard pay, additional paid sick leave and adequate personal protective equipment, among other demands."

Unfortunately, I think our society has misperceptions about our elders where they are associated with a general decline and thus not valued or cared for in the way they should be. It is a tough subject to discuss but ageism is a real thing.

This is the sad truth. Past generations stuck together through thick and thin, old and young. Times are not only changing now but have been changing.
